9 September - The Black Knight arrives in Istanbul
"After breakfast we could already recognise the first landscape of Istanbul at the horizon. It was however quite misty and foggy, so it remained very unclear for a moment.
For us anyway it meant that the cleaning of the boat had to be done very carefully and correct as it is always done before we enter harbour. It was a strange feeling among the Peace sailors we could not yet really realise that those should be our last moment on the boat and soon we would be in a hotel in the middle of this metropolis.
As usual we had a session at 10 am on the notion of peace, the concept of peace, peace and reconciliation, and our vision for peace.
At around noon we anchored in front of the marina of Istanbul with a magnificent sight of the city. We finished the cleaning, packed our things and entered the harbour. Quite a lot of media were waiting for us, and we were busy giving interviews and statements.
Before we left the boat however (it has already become 5 PM because of passport problems) we met again the captain and the crew at the stern of the boat and we were given certificates and said good-bye to everybody.
We went by bus to a very nice hotel in the middle of Istanbul right at the hagia Sophia where we met the participants of leg 4. We had dinner together in the hotel with a marvellous view over the city."
