8 September - Conflict between Indians and Californians...
"Our last full day on sea! However it was not really the 'open sea' today since we entered the Dardanelles early in the morning and had quite an easy tour through this natural canal until we reached the Sea of Marmara in the late evening.
Two training sessions were scheduled for today: the morning session was about negotiations again, and we went more into detail about the negotiation-process and steps within that. Also we talked about negotiation strategies and came back to the rolegame we started yesterday to see how the theory matched our role-playing.
In the afternoon session we moved to the aspect of mediation within conflict prevention and management methods. We talked about the role and the tasks of a mediator and skills a mediator should have. After that we again started a rolegame about a conflict between Indians and a logging company in California.
The rest of the day passed calm, we enjoyed the sights of the coastlines of the Dardanelles. We had a great time during lunch, that was prepared by our Egyptian sailors, when we brought the stereo up from the underdeck and turned the boat into a big party place. The music kept playing until the evening and people were dancing on the deck.
Later we had the most beautiful sunset of our cruise with a blueish-red sun andthe sky and clouds in all colours. We all dressed up and prepared for the Captain's Dinner, which is a special occasion always at the last night on sea. The stern was prepared with a large table full of good food, and it was a great ending of a day as we started slowly to prepare ourselves for going back on land..."
