11 September - Leaving Istanbul!!

"Already used by the city air, we spent our last morning strolling the streets of the old city of Istanbul leisurely. Packing and getting ready to leave our hotel followed, but only the afternoon did we arrive at the harbor. And not a minute later than we arrived did our work start! Loading supplies, packs. Assigning individual cabins to each sailor (40x180x40 cm…) . Getting first instructions from our watch mates, and shortly after a tour on the magnificent Zawisza Czarny. Excitement could be felt throughout. Some of us have never sailed before, and could not wait for the experience they were about to embark on. In the evening, the leg 3 participants arrived for a final ceremony and farewell to the ship. In the past 3 days the legs 3 and 4 have spent much time together and that could definitely be seen on board. Kisses, hugs, handshakes and even salutes. All were waiting for Project Manager, Richard Amalvy.

After some delaying bureaucracy our dear Richard arrived. All were getting ready for the leaving and a short ceremony followed with a very inspiring farewell from both the captain and the project manager. That's it we're leaving!!! 22:30. The ship humped it's horn as a sign of farewell three times. The shore can be seen getting smaller and smaller, as all of us wave to our fellows on the harbor. We ARE the peace sailors now!"
